This episode takes place right where episode two ended. A showdown between Chiyuri and Kuroyukihime.
It doesn’t last long and Kuroyukihime basically dismisses Chiyuri’s attacks, as she claims that Haruyuki is her boyfriend and they are going on a date. This shuts up Chiyuri as she watches both of them walk away.

Next up Kuroyukihime explains why she needed Haruyuki. Even though the majority of the episode was this, I don’t think I ever found it boring. Kuroyukihime explains that when you reach level 9 in the Brain Burst game, you become a leader. However, Level 9 isn’t the highest level you can go. The top level is 10, but it’s hard to get there and if you fail, then you lose all of your points and get kicked out of the game.

It’s harsh, which is why all of the leaders formed a peace treaty to make sure that doesn’t happen. In order to protect their game, they’d rather help each other not get to level 10 then to reach that and see people get kicked out. It’s a pretty noble cause and I liked when Kuroyukihime mentions this.
However, two years ago Kuroyukihime, who was one of the 7 leaders, didn’t like this and ‘killed’ one of the players and was branded as a traitor. A bounty is placed on her head and she’s been in hiding ever since. Kuroyukihime believes that the players should go all out and try to reach level 10. Once you do, you can meet the creators of the game and learn its purpose.

Everything was fine, until someone showed up and challenged her at school. If the challenger finds out that Kuroyukihime is the missing ex-leader, then her peaceful life in hiding can be ruined in an instant.
The person who keeps challenging Kuroyukihime at school….is Chiyuri.
Haruyuki can’t believe that his childhood friend would do this, so he volunteers to find out. To do this, he visits Chiyuri asks her to direct link to him.
Haruyuki visits Chiyuri, they direct link, share their feelings, and hug. It’s touching. Only problem is while they are pouring out their feelings to one another, Haruyuki is looking through Chiyuri’s computer log. I know that he had to do this, but I still felt bad for Chiyuri.

He discovers something shocking and the episode ends on that note.
Good episode though, even though the entire thing took place in 4 places. Outside of the school, the cafe, the street, and Chiyuri’s house. It almost seems like nothing happened, but on the contrary…a lot took place.
I also liked that Kuroyukihime isn’t really a good guy. Instead of upholding the peace treaty, she betrayed her comrades in order to see what happens at Level 10. It’s a good goal to have, but it does have devastating consequences.
I’m definitely interested in learning more, but I don’t know if I should catch up on the manga to find out what happens, or be patient and wait for the next episode….I’ll probably read the manga. ^.^
